The Club collaborates with a range of partner organisations interested in improving the environment of the river Darent. Recognising the historic challenges facing the river, from low flows to a decline in the wild brown trout population, we work collaboratively on jointly funded and managed projects to sustain and improve the river’s ecology.
We welcome new partnerships. If you have a proposal to discuss, please get in touch.
· Darent Valley Farming Cluster: this comprises the farmers along our beats from whom we rent our fishing. They are collaborating with other stakeholders in a prestigious Landscape Recovery Project (see below) aimed at improving biodiversity along the Darent valley. The river is very much at the centre of this initiative.
· Kent Wildlife Trust, South East Rivers Trust, North West Kent Countryside Partnership and DRiPS: we have longstanding relationships with these organisations, made all the stronger by their role in the Landscape Recovery Project.
· The Angling Trust and Wild Trout Trust: we value the advice and support from both organisations and have used the WTT expertise to improve the fishing along our beats.
Restoring and improving the once prolific population of wild brown trout along the river is one of the objectives of these collaborations. If the Landscape Recovery Project is given the go ahead by DEFRA at the end of 2024 it is expected to last for 20 years and will be key in this objective.
